Velociraptor lived 75 million years ago during the Cretaceous Period. He was a hunting dinosaur and very smart as far as dinosaurs go. The word Raptor actually means bird of prey, like an eagle, hawk or falcon, or owl. Which is interesting because at some time in their existence, they did have feathers. They belong to a family of dinosaur called Deinonychus or “terrible claw”, referring to a large scary hooked claw on their hind feet.
