St. Francis of Assisi, Italy, heard Jesus’ call to ‘Go and Rebuild my Church’. So he took this as his mission. He gave away his possessions and not only preached the gospel, he lived it, taking his place with the poor. He was even called ‘el poverello’, meaning little poor man. He was so passionate and dedicated to the gospel that others were drawn to him. They were able to rebuild the broken down church system so effectively that they were able to care for those that no one else could, the sick and the poor.
